Title	Camp Fire Girl’s ceremonial costume
Subject	Camp Fire Girls Costume Clothing and dress Nineteen thirties
Description	This ceremonial costume was used at monthly events to honor Camp Fire Girls for their achievements. Much as in girl and boy scouts, merit awards were given, sometimes symbolized by wooden beads that were then attached to the costume, which was meant to resemble Native-American clothing in a generalized way. Founded in 1910, the movement encouraged teenagers to experience “the out-of-doors habit and spirit.” Shirley Dewey wore this outfit when she participated in the group in Grand Island Nebraska in 1939.
