Description	The Civil War Soldier did not have a lot of space, so what little personal items he could carry had to be small. The “housewife” is a small sewing kit the soldier could use to repair his uniform while on campaign. To help keep clean, the mirror could be used for shaving. The Army did not issue eating utensils, so this compact set was bought with the soldier’s own money, and is small enough to be carried in his pocket. The canteen is made of tin and was covered with cloth, which could be soaked with water to help keep the contents cool.
